Per Joergen Olafsen's Personal Page

For the first half of my 49 years of living, my home towns were Sandefjord and Larvik, both situated in the southeast of Norway. Later I have lived different places in Norway, first due to education and then due to work. Since 1993 my wife and I have lived together in Baerum, just outside Oslo. We have two children.

Education:
My interests in social political issues have been the common denominator behind my educational choices. After leaving upper secondary school, I first studied Social Politics at the Lillehammer University College for one year and then Public Administration at the Agder University College, Kristiansand, for two years. Before entering professional life I also took a foundation level course in Public Law at the University of Oslo.

In addition to my ordinary work, later I have taken intermediate level courses in Public Law and Political Science at the University of Oslo. In the spring of 2001 I ended my education so far with a post-graduate level course in Political Science (Cand.polit.) at the same university.

Work:
My professional work experience has primarily been within municipal central administration, emphasizing cross-sectoral evaluations and case handling, project management, financial management, personel management, committee secretariat and local administration of elections.

I had my first work experiences as Executive Officer in the Municipality of Rauma and then as Municipal Council Secretary in the Municipality of Soegne. I worked as Higher Executive Officer in the Municipality of Oppegaard for more than seven years, followed by a shorter term as Head of Department in former the Grefsen-Kjelsaas District of the City of Oslo. Then followed three years as Senior Executive Officer in the Municipality of Baerum and two years as Deputy Director General at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science in Oslo.

Since June 2001 I'm working as Senior Adviser in the Chief Commissioner's Department of the City of Oslo. The tasks primarily consist of coordination and quality assurance of propositions to be decided on by the City Government.

Hobbies:
Most of my leisure time is spend looking after two children, a house and a home. I made my debut as an internet user in the summer of 1994. I am also trying to devote some spare time for my interests in Italian societal life and Italian language.
